Garden Work Day – July 13, 2019

Want to get started on your volunteer hours for the 2019-2020 school year? Want to make sure the garden looks beautiful for the children when they return in just a few short weeks?

Then, please come to our “Second Saturday Garden Work Day” this Saturday July 13th.  The gates will open at 6 a.m., so please come early to enjoy the cool morning. The workday runs from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Our garden is a vital part of the community of Desert Marigold.  Without the support of the community, our kids will not be able to fully enjoy and take advantage of what the garden has to offer. This is where parents, grandparents, caregivers and community members come in. There are projects available for all skill levels. All hands are welcome and needed!

All children must be supervised and remain in the garden area or the Grades 1-4 playground to keep the children safe and to protect our school grounds.

Projects planned for this Saturday: trimming palo verde trees and clearing out and planting flowers in the raised beds to welcome the children in August. The garden has room for all hands and hearts. There are always projects with wool and seed pods for little hands and for those who desire soft work. It will be hot, so please remember to bring water, sun hats, and sunscreen!  Please bring snacks for your family or something to share!  For tree trimming, you may prefer to wear clothing that will protect you from scratches (long sleeves, leather gloves etc.)

Your time and energy in the garden is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
