Volunteer Opportunities with the NEW lunch program!

Sort and serve healthy lunches for our hungry students and staff

CONTACT PARENT COUNCIL  or signup on ParentSquare to volunteer

Parent Council has put in the work to get Lunchkins set up at Desert Marigold, has streamlined the process, and is ready to bring on more volunteers!

Quick Info:
In general, volunteers would be working from about 11am to 1pm.
Lunchkins arrives in the front office between 11:15 and 11:30 each day
Volunteers sign for the delivery, arrange the sorting bags, label meals, and sort the meals into bags by class
Deliveries are made to HS, Nap Care and lower grades. Upper grades come to the office to pick theirs up. On a normal day, with a single volunteer working, everything is done by 12:45pm.
It is a simple task that only requires one person each day

Volunteers receive a 5% discount on their personal Lunchkins orders!

* There is some walking around campus, bending, lifting, and a little bit of waiting around for lunch periods to start, once you get the hang of things. Instructions and training will be provided for all interested persons

Garden Work Day – July 13, 2019

Want to get started on your volunteer hours for the 2019-2020 school year? Want to make sure the garden looks beautiful for the children when they return in just a few short weeks?

Then, please come to our “Second Saturday Garden Work Day” this Saturday July 13th.  The gates will open at 6 a.m., so please come early to enjoy the cool morning. The workday runs from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Our garden is a vital part of the community of Desert Marigold.  Without the support of the community, our kids will not be able to fully enjoy and take advantage of what the garden has to offer. This is where parents, grandparents, caregivers and community members come in. There are projects available for all skill levels. All hands are welcome and needed!

All children must be supervised and remain in the garden area or the Grades 1-4 playground to keep the children safe and to protect our school grounds.Projects planned for this Saturday: trimming palo verde trees and clearing out and planting flowers in the raised beds to welcome the children in August. The garden has room for all hands and hearts. There are always projects with wool and seed pods for little hands and for those who desire soft work. It will be hot, so please remember to bring water, sun hats, and sunscreen!  Please bring snacks for your family or something to share!  For tree trimming, you may prefer to wear clothing that will protect you from scratches (long sleeves, leather gloves etc.)

Your time and energy in the garden is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Galaxy Digital Volunteer System

Dear DMS Community,

Thank you for your all of your time and dedication to our school. DMS is very fortunate to have such a truly wonderful community! We recognize that it has been challenging to navigate a new system by which we are able to track volunteer hours and we appreciate your commitment to learning how to use Galaxy. That said, we are here to help! Please review and save the information and resources provided below and contact Laura Heaney if you need further assistance.

The New Volunteer System – Galaxy Digital
