Jadyn Rose Odins – Memorial Fund

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we are writing to inform you of the passing our beloved Jadyn Rose Odins. To everyone who may not yet have heard the news, our dear Jadyn Rose died following a tragic accident on February 24, 2018. Jadyn would have turned 21 on April 19, 2018.

As many of you are all aware, Jadyn Rose is a former student of Desert Marigold. Jadyn began her journey in our 1st grade and graduated in 2011 from our 8th grade. Jadyn was an outstanding and incredibly talented human. She was vibrant, intelligent, witty, charming, and a truly spirited soul. She touched so many lives and hearts in our community through the years. The world lost a great deal of sunshine with her passing. Her memory will live on with a dedicated rose garden on our campus.

Please watch the newsletter for more details. Her loving mother, Tatjana Odins has been a devoted teacher and employee at DMS for many years. She currently teaches in our Lifeways Program. What has happened is beyond comprehension and we are all still in shock. Understandably the family is struggling with this unbearable sense of loss.

We have had numerous emails, texts and messages from people asking how to help, so this campaign has been created as a way for individuals to offer financial assistance during this difficult time. If you would like to donate, just click on this GoFundMe link. All donations are welcome and appreciated.

Jadyn’s Verse

Wisdom of the stars I know,
And like their light my heart does glow.
Courage and strength shall guide my deeds.
I carry with me the gift of song.
I am fair and good and kind and strong.

Bye Bye Birdie is a stage musical based on a book by Michael Stewart, with lyrics by Lee Adams and music by Charles Strouse. Originally titled Let’s Go Steady, Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. The rock star character’s name, “Conrad Birdie”, is word play on the name of Conway Twitty. Twitty is best remembered today for his long career as a country music star, but in the late 1950s, he was one of Presley’s rock ‘n’ roll rivals.
