Dear Desert Marigold School Families Grades 3-11,
We are writing to inform you that next week statewide mandatory AZ MERIT testing will be held in the areas of Writing, Math and Reading. It is imperative that the children in grades 3-11 are present at school and on time each day next week (Mar 27-Mar 31). The testing Period will be 8:30am -10:45am each day.
The test is not optional, it is required by the State of Arizona. If your child is late or absent they will have to make the test up the following week. They will not be admitted to the classroom once the test begins. If your child is late, they will need to take the test in an alternative environment other than their classroom. Because the test is required, if students are absent, they will make up the testing the following week. Parents are not allowed in the classrooms during testing in order to preserve the integrity of the testing environment.
The BEST preparation for your child is a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast. Ideally, students should not be under any undue stress about the testing. The day will have a different rhythm than the usual one. Classes will resume after the morning testing period.
Please have your child come prepared with something they can do silently at their desks in case they finish early. They may bring things like books, paper and pencil, word searches, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, a sketch pad, beeswax, or handwork.
Test results will be reported back from the Arizona Department of Education around the beginning of the 2017-18 school year. For further information see https://desertmarigold.org/programs/standardized-testing/
on our website, which states our policy on testing, including the state standardized tests.

Jimmy, who has been married three (or is it four?) times before, is preparing to marry Eileen Evergreen, a self-obsessed modern dancer. Thinking Jimmy and Eileen will be out of town, Billie and her gang hide cases of alcohol the basement of Jimmy’s Long Island mansion. But when Jimmy, his wife-to-be and her prohibitionist family show up at the mansion for the wedding, Billie and her cohorts pose as servants, causing hijinks galore.
