Description
We are looking for someone to be the Groundskeeper for the 2024/25 school year.
Description:
The groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance and safety of the Desert Marigold School grounds. They also help look after and maintain the garden.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Maintain the appearance and safety of the school grounds including, but not limited to, lawns, driveways, pathways, patios, etc.
Mow, weed and plant flowers, shrubs, trees and grass
Prunes trees and shrubs
Apply fertilization and other treatments and keeps records of any chemical applications
Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required
Pick up litter and empty outdoor trash/recycling cans
Water trees, shrubs and lawns and coordinate irrigation with Maintenance Supervisor
Operate large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools and large vehicles
Assist Maintenance Supervisor with building and campus maintenance projects as needed
Tend to the development of the GARDEN.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques pertaining to the supervision of a comprehensive school facility and equipment maintenance program; practices and procedures of efficient management.
Organization, and supervision; equipment, materials, and supplies commonly utilized in the various building and mechanical trades; legal mandates, policies, regulations, and operational procedures pertaining to the maintenance, repair, and construction of school facilities; practices, procedures, techniques, and strategies for determining operational effectiveness; safe and sanitary working methods and procedures.
Perform moderately medium to heavy manual activities effectively and efficiently.
Supervise, coordinate, assign and schedule the work of others if necessary.
Accurately estimate time and material costs pertaining to maintenance projects.
Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability control. Establish and maintain working relationships with contractors, staff members, parent volunteers, and the public.
Knowledge of Waldorf education and public school operations.
