Description
We are looking for someone to be the Maintenance Supervisor for the 2023/24 school year.
Description:
Under general direction to plan, organize, assign, schedule, supervise and perform skilled and unskilled custodial, grounds and routine minor maintenance functions. To ensure the school is in a clean, sanitary, secure and safe condition: to arrange and assist in maintaining the physical environment required for activities held on campus. To perform analysis of facilities and systems. Although most tasks are to be accomplished independently, this position will also interface with contractors and parent volunteers on additional projects and provide support as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Schedules, coordinates and may participate in the activities of performing a variety of custodial, grounds and building maintenance functions.
Inspects school grounds including playground areas, to ensure safety of structure and terrain.
Arranges the purchase of plant material, landscape/gardening materials, custodial and building maintenance materials.
Estimates costs, labor, and materials; coordinates work with outside contractors.
Sets up and takes down for various assemblies, festivals, and school functions.
Review and interpret diagrams and blueprints.
Inspects building and grounds for damage, necessary repairs, security and safety, and takes corrective actions as appropriate.
Inspects heating, electrical, air conditioning and water equipment and makes minor repairs or adjustments.
Coordinates, supervises, and participates in major cleaning, maintenance and improvements of the school during vacation periods.
Performs minor repairs and light maintenance tasks such as furniture assembly, desk repair, etc.
Confers with site administrator in planning the maintenance of the school site.
Generates detailed productivity reports and provides monthly, weekly, and daily updates.
Troubleshoot and resolve various maintenance, custodial, grounds project issues.
Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to scope and develop work to completion.
Coordinate, suggest, report in reference to SRP for scheduling and irrigation.
Assist with coordination, participation, implementation and monitoring of sustainability and recycling program.
Coordinate school volunteer workdays as needed, required, or under direction of school administration.
Maintain and record a weekly inspection of parking lot gravel areas, maintain gravel replacement, eliminate litter as needed.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques pertaining to the supervision of a comprehensive school facility and equipment maintenance program; practices and procedures of efficient management.
Organization, and supervision; equipment, materials, and supplies commonly utilized in the various building and mechanical trades; legal mandates, policies, regulations, and operational procedures pertaining to the maintenance, repair, and construction of school facilities; practices, procedures, techniques, and strategies for determining operational effectiveness; safe and sanitary working methods and procedures.
Perform moderately medium to heavy manual activities effectively and efficiently.
Supervise, coordinate, assign and schedule the work of others if necessary.
Accurately estimate time and material costs pertaining to maintenance projects.
Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability control. Establish and maintain working relationships with contractors, staff members, parent volunteers, and the public.
Knowledge of Waldorf education and public school operations.
