Special Education Instructional Aide

Description

The Special Education Instructional Assistant works closely with and supports the lead teacher in all areas, including classroom activities, participation in meetings and in special events throughout the year.

Essential Job Functions:

● Works well in a collaborative team environment. 

● Ability to work positively with the children. 

● Demonstrates ability to follow the example of the lead teacher. 

● Good listening skills and clear communication skills. 

● Help redirect and refocus students 

● Schedule may include snack and lunch play yard duties.

Qualifications:

● Candidates will hold or be working towards an Associates degree or higher, or have completed two (2) years or 60 credit hours of higher education. 

● Candidates must have a current valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, Clear TB Test, valid First Aid and CPR Certificate. 

● The assistant needs to have the ability to take direction from and work closely with the Class Teacher. The assistant will work with the whole class and possibly small groups of students or with a specific student to reiterate and reinforce academic content. 

● Flexible individual who works well with others and is experienced in, or interested in learning to assist diverse learners in a grade school (Grades 1-12) environment. 

● Knowledge of Waldorf education and public/charter school operations preferred.

$16.00 per hour based on experience
